Com o lançamento do seu mais recente single, “Viagem Lunar”, Tarkkes transporta-nos para um universo introspetivo e etéreo, onde a solidão e a paixão se entrelaçam em camadas de vozes hipnotizantes e paisagens sonoras “siderais”. Ppr Sandra Pinto Nesta entrevista, o artista fala sobre o processo criativo que deu origem à canção, a escolha de regressar à língua materna e como esta obra marca uma nova fase na sua evolução musical. O que te inspirou a criar “Viagem Lunar” e qual é a mensagem que queres transmitir com esta canção? A “Viagem Lunar” surgiu de uma solidão que, muitas vezes, acompanha o processo de exploração e descoberta, tanto de mim próprio, como de ambientes sociais diferentes dos que me enquadro, tendo por base um único porto seguro: a paixão. A idealização de uma viagem espacial reflete a infinidade de possibilidades que a vida nos pode proporcionar, mesmo que seja um processo só e esgotante. Se este caminho não resultou, não significa que não haja outros que podem ser melhores para cada um de nós. Como surgiu a ideia de combinar camadas de vozes hipnotizantes com uma paisagem sonora “sideral”? Quando compus a melodia, ouvi-a e percebi logo que queria que soasse algo etéreo. Então, como sempre gostei muito de harmonizar e me sinto muito inspirado pela forma como o Jacob Collier mistura as vozes nas suas músicas, decidi experimentar fazer várias camadas de frases melancólicas que acabaram por fazer nascer a “Viagem Lunar”. Nos teus próprios termos, descreveste a música como um lamento entre sonho e esquecimento. Como conseguiste traduzir essas emoções em palavras e melodia? A melodia e as vozes foram pensadas com um sentimento de arrependimento e tristeza sempre presentes, um lamento suspenso no vazio que existe do espaço, que não tem utilidade nem resposta. Foi tudo uma tentativa de transmitir a melancolia que sinto quando sonho sobre um possível futuro que está tão distante e que acaba por cair no esquecimento por ser um sonho irreal. Por ser tão improvável, acaba por cair em esquecimento. É uma luta entre acreditar no que é o meu potencial como artista e gerir expectativas que não vou ser concretizadas a curto prazo. Após “Infinite Dance” e “No Time”, o que torna “Viagem Lunar” especial ou diferente na tua evolução artística? A “Viagem Lunar” é a transposição mais verdadeira do meu Eu. Ao contrário dos meus outros singles, ainda muito experimentais, este é o que me deixa mais vulnerável e o que eu acredito ser a primeira manifestação da minha verdadeira identidade musical. A “Viagem Lunar” é como uma reflexão do Tarkkes. O teu som mistura R&B, pop, soul, jazz, EDM e trap. Como estas influências se manifestam especificamente em “Viagem Lunar”? Estes géneros musicais diversificados têm especial influência na forma como eu produzo as minhas canções. Tendo a minha cultura musical amadurecido de uma forma autónoma e autodidata, acabei por absorver pequenos detalhes acerca da forma como processo os diferentes elementos da música. No caso da “Viagem Lunar”, existe um contrabaixo que foi processado de forma semelhante ao que acontece nos graves presentes no EDM e no trap. Isto permitiu-me criar uma sensação de imersão e calor que não seria possível se não existisse tanto espaço dedicado a este único instrumento. Por que decidiste regressar à tua língua materna para este single e de que forma isso mudou a forma como escreves e interpretas? Para mim o inglês é mais fácil, permite-me dizer mais, de uma forma mais simples. Mas, pelo meio, perde-se a essência e a ligação que eu tenho com a minha língua materna. Vejo o inglês como um meio para atingir a maturidade emocional que me permite expressar naquela que é a língua mais presente e próxima de mim, o português. Por ser a minha língua materna exige que eu seja mais vulnerável e que entre mais em contacto com o que sinto, o que, por vezes, não se é fácil. Que sentimentos esperas que o público viva ao ouvir “Viagem Lunar”? Há claramente uma melancolia inescapável, contudo não tenho expectativas. Eu posso falar dos sentimentos que associo e que me levaram a compor esta canção, mas o bonito na música é a perceção individual ser formatada às vivências e ao sentimento presente no momento. Depois deste single, que caminhos musicais ou experimentações planeias explorar nos próximos meses ou num próximo álbum? Quero muito continuar a explorar esta nova identidade vocal e, se surgirem oportunidades, gostava de fazer colaborações. CORPUS CHRISTII e IRAE na República da Música: um ritual inesquecível entre deuses de fogo e crepúsculos sombrios

Os Corpus Christii, uma das mais marcantes e influentes bandas de black metal português, subiram ao palco da República da Música para interpretar na íntegra o álbum «The Fire God». Numa noite coberta de negro, a intensidade do black metal espalhou a sua magia sobre a capital. Numa noite dedicada à celebração de um marco incontornável do black metal português, a banda interpretou na íntegra o álbum «The Fire God», originalmente lançado em 2001. Esta foi uma oportunidade rara para revisitar um trabalho que definiu a identidade do coletivo liderado por Nocturnus Horrendus e que consolidou a sua reputação além-fronteiras. O disco, agora reeditado, mantém intacta a sua aura obscura e desafiante, com a brutalidade e o espírito blasfemo que sempre caracterizaram a banda, confirmando «The Fire God» como uma referência obrigatória do black metal europeu. Formados em 1998 em Lisboa, os Corpus Christii rapidamente se tornaram uma das mais marcantes e influentes bandas do género em Portugal. Criados por Nocturnus Horrendus, seu principal mentor e único membro constante ao longo das décadas, o projeto ganhou prestígio na cena underground europeia, combinando um som cru, obscuro e atmosférico com temáticas centradas no satanismo filosófico, misantropia e espiritualidade negra, elementos típicos do black metal mais tradicional, mas com uma identidade própria. A apresentação da banda revestiu-se de distintas camadas que conferiram à sua típica atmosfera ritualista uma intensidade magnânima, intensificada pela entrega do público que se deixou levar sem hesitações numa noite marcada pela densidade sonora vinda do palco. Mais de duas décadas depois da edição original, o regresso de «The Fire God» ao palco foi uma celebração da própria história do género em Portugal, um momento em que fãs de longa data e novos admiradores se reuniram para testemunhar a potência e a intensidade de um álbum que continua a desafiar e a fascinar. A atuação reafirmou o estatuto dos Corpus Christii como uma das mais importantes e influentes bandas de black metal nacional, capazes de transformar cada concerto num ritual sonoro memorável. Verdadeiro santuário do black metal, a República da Música revelou-se o espaço certo: Desde o primeiro acorde, a atmosfera que inundou a República da Música tornou-se densa e ritualística. A brutalidade característica do disco, combinada com a aura obscura e desafiadora, envolveu o público numa experiência quase hipnótica. Cada tema interpretado parecia projetar os presentes para o coração do universo negro da banda, onde melancolia e agressividade coexistem num equilíbrio perfeito. Usando o black metal como forma de expressão artística e existencial, os Corpus Christii permanecem uma referência absoluta do género em Portugal. Duas décadas depois, a banda mantém uma entidade sonora que combina tradição, identidade e evolução constante. Mas a noite de 28 de novembro foi ainda mais especial ao acolher um daqueles concertos que ficam cravados na memória. IRAE, guiados pela figura imponente de Vulturius, regressaram aos palcos para apresentar “In The Key of Twilight”, e bastaram poucos minutos para perceber que não ia ser um concerto qualquer. A sala, quase às escuras, parecia preparada para um ritual e foi exatamente isso que aconteceu: um mergulho profundo no lado mais cru, feroz e purista do black metal português. Assim que Vulturius surgiu, sentiu-se o peso de mais de vinte anos de entrega absoluta a este universo. Há algo de quase palpável na forma como carrega o projeto, uma seriedade inabalável que se reflete tanto nos clássicos que a banda tocou como nas faixas novas. “In The Key of Twilight”, apresentado como o disco mais ambicioso de IRAE, mostrou-se ao vivo como uma expansão natural do que sempre definiu o projeto: agressividade, frieza e uma visão muito própria do black metal, mas agora com nuances a que dificilmente se fica indiferente. As novas músicas, especialmente, ganharam vida de uma maneira quase brutal. O álbum lê-se nas guitarras afiadíssimas, nos ritmos acelerados da bateria e na forma como cada faixa parece construída para espelhar conflito interior, renascimento e confrontação. E quando Vulturius diz que “Irae é um símbolo da minha intolerância e ódio para com a humanidade, e às vezes até para comigo próprio”, basta ouvi-lo ao vivo para entender que não é exagero. Cada grito, cada rasgo instrumental carrega esse peso. O concerto acabou por se transformar num verdadeiro turbilhão: blastbeats incessantes, riffs gelados, uma execução que não dava espaço para respirar. Nada foi suavizado, nada foi moldado para agradar e o público respondeu exatamente como se esperaria de uma plateia que sabe ao que vem. Era impossível não sentir a ligação com o underground nacional, esse espaço onde IRAE sempre tive um papel essencial e que continua a ajudar a manter vivo. No final, ficou claro que “In The Key of Twilight” abre uma nova fase para IRAE. Não rompe com o passado, mas expande-o; não abandona as raízes, mas aprofunda-as. Aquele concerto não foi só o lançamento de um álbum, foi uma declaração de força e autenticidade. Uma prova de que IRAE continuam a ser um dos nomes mais respeitados do black metal português e que ainda têm muito a dizer. A noite começou com o concerto de Grievance, que rapidamente se revelou muito mais do que uma simples atuação ao vivo. Foi uma verdadeira viagem pela história de uma banda marcada pela reinvenção e pela persistência criativa. No palco, Koraxid, agora único responsável pelo projeto, emanava uma presença impressionante. Como vocalista, conseguiu transmitir toda a densidade e agressividade que definem Grievance desde a sua fundação, em 1997, no universo do black metal nacional. Cada nota, cada gesto, carregava a intensidade de décadas de dedicação, mantendo viva a essência de uma banda que sobreviveu a mudanças de line-up, longos períodos de pausa e até à distância física entre os membros. Star Crystal: “If our songs give someone energy or motivation to keep going, then we’ve done our job”

Born from childhood dreams and an unwavering devotion to the golden age of glam and hard rock, Star Crystal is a band that transforms nostalgia into pure electric energy. Led by Susanna Radimovskaya, whose journey began at the age of six singing power ballads on a kitchen chair, the group has evolved from its Ukrainian roots to stages across Europe — always carrying the fire of the ’80s at its core. With big choruses, glittering attitude, leather, wind machines, and a spirit that refuses to ask for permission, Star Crystal channel the era of glam into something both heartfelt and explosively alive. Their music blends heavy riffs with pop-bright melodies, their lyrics draw strength from personal struggle, and their shows turn any stage, large or small, into an arena of dreams. From iconic music videos to massive festival stages, she reflects on Star Crystal’s journey so far — and on the dreams still waiting to be conquered. Susanna, you started singing at 6 and dreamed of power ballads. How do those early dreams influence Star Crystal today? My dreams are actually the reason why Star Crystal exists. We’re turning everything we imagined as kids into reality. We look the way we always wanted, we play the music we always loved, and we live the life we once only dreamed about. Those early dreams still guide us — the ’80s energy. Every time I step on stage, I feel like that little girl again, standing on a chair and pretending to sing to thousands of people. Now it’s real, and that feeling is what keeps us moving forward. The band was born in Ukraine but now plays across Europe. How has your origin shaped the band’s sound and energy? I don’t think our origin shaped us very much in terms of sound, because from the beginning we were guided by the music and the look of the ’80s of USA. That was always our direction, no matter where we came from. When you come from a place where things are not always easy, you learn to fight for your dream with everything you have. You describe Star Crystal as an ‘80s glam/hard rock time machine. Which elements of that era do you try to capture, and which do you modernize? I never really overthink it — we just do what we genuinely love. Our fans sometimes tell us that Come On Baby sounds more modern, probably because it has that heavier guitar tone. But honestly, we don’t sit and calculate what should be “modern” or “retro”. We just follow our taste. How do you create songs that blend heavy riffs with catchy pop melodies? Heaviness is mostly a matter of sound design — distortion, tone, arrangement. The notes themselves stay the same, so you can place beautiful melodies on top of even the heaviest riffs. That’s why artists sometimes release acoustic versions of their songs: the core melody still works. You’ve mentioned that assembling the lineup wasn’t easy. How does each member contribute to the band’s unique chemistry? We spend a lot of time together, so we know each other extremely well. Making music keeps us focused on our main goals instead of individual desires — it reminds us that we’re building something bigger than just one person. Your songs often carry motivational messages, like “Power of Love.” Where does the inspiration for lyrics that mix energy and positivity come from? Our path in music — trying to achieve success — is the biggest inspiration. We’ve struggled a lot, faced many obstacles, and had to break through a lot of walls, so we actually know what it feels like to fight for your dream. That’s why we can write about it honestly and share our experience with the audience. All those moments — the hard ones and the beautiful ones — turn into lyrics. We want people to feel stronger, more confident, more hopeful when they listen to us. If our songs give someone energy or motivation to keep going, then we’ve done our job. What do you love most about turning any stage into an “arena”? In those moments, we’re building our old dreams. Every stage — big or small — becomes the place where our childhood fantasies come true. You use a lot of costumes, makeup, and choreography. How do you balance that with musical performance? We usually prepare everything in a way that supports the performance instead of distracting from it. The clothes must be comfortable enough to move in, the makeup needs to survive the heat of the stage, and the choreography has to feel natural, not forced. We’re not dancing like a pop group — it’s more about attitude, presence, and creating moments that match the music. What has been the most memorable show so far, and why? One of the most memorable shows for us was at Metal Days Festival. It was the first time we felt what it’s like to stand on a truly huge stage with a massive crowd in front of us. The energy was unbelievable — like the whole audience was breathing with us. Your music videos are described as ‘80s fantasy, with wind machines and leather outfits. How do you plan such an iconic look? We gather all together and start to think about images in our heads that can fit our song and make a video from that image. Some scenes from movies that we like helps us a lot. Do you see your videos as an extension of your music, or as a form of art in their own right? hideclose: “I’ve always loved stories and how music can tell one”

From the shadows of Berlin emerges hideclose, the Gothic Metal and atmospheric Rock project created by Lenn Vane — a composer and storyteller who transforms music into narrative. His debut EP, Nocte Mutamur (By Night We Are Changed), presents itself as a true gothic novella in five movements, where heavy riffs, somber ambience, and literary influences intertwine to follow the journey of a protagonist on the brink of transformation. By Sandra Pinto More than a musical release, Nocte Mutamur is a narrative experience that explores spirituality, psychological horror, and the sacred grotesque through the eyes of the enigmatic Professor Dario Valperga, in a Victorian London steeped in mystery. In this interview, Lenn Vane reveals the creative process behind the EP, his influences, the symbols that shape each track, and how he intends to expand this visual and sonic universe. Nocte Mutamur unfolds like a Gothic novella. What inspired you to create a narrative-driven EP? I’ve always loved stories and how music can tell one. With Nocte Mutamur, I wanted each song to feel like a chapter, following Dario the protagonist of the story through his fears, dreams, and changes. I didn’t just want songs that sounded good on their own. I wanted them to fit together and create a journey people could really get lost in. Can you tell us more about Professor Dario Valperga and his journey through the five tracks? Dario is a lonely religion professor in London, 1889. Brilliant, but troubled, he struggles with depression and phobias. Haunted View shows him facing his inner demons in a dreamlike forest. Sacred Play challenges his beliefs through a mysterious ritual. The Darkness Draws Near reveals that even a “proper” life can’t escape inner shadows. In A Fatal Meeting, he witnesses a murder in a dream that turns out to be real, pushing him to the edge. The final track shows his transformation under the full moon liberating, but open-ended. How did you decide which events or themes to explore in each track? I focused on the moments that shaped him the most like facing fears, questioning beliefs, confronting dark truths. Each track highlights a key turning point so listeners can feel his journey and evolution. The EP mixes horror, the grotesque, and spirituality. How do these elements connect in your storytelling? For me, they’re all ways to explore the unknown both in the world and within ourselves. Horror and the grotesque show Dario’s fears, while spirituality adds a layer of mystery and reflection. Together, they make the story intense, emotional, and a little unsettling like facing your own shadows and demons. Victorian London, 1889, is the setting for Nocte Mutamur. Why did you choose this period and place? It’s rich and atmospheric, a time of strict rules and hidden darkness. London almost becomes a character itself, with fog, gas lamps, and secrets, which really enhances the Gothic and psychological tone of the EP. How do you blend gothic metal, doom, and alternative influences while maintaining a cohesive story? I focus on the mood first. Each genre gives me different textures, so I pick whatever fits the feeling of the moment. As long as the atmosphere stays true to the story, the styles naturally fall into place. Can you describe your creative process when writing the music for such a cinematic concept? I start with the music melodies, riffs, or atmospheres that feel right for Dario’s world. Then I layer lyrics, vocals, and other elements to match the emotions and events of each scene. Are there specific musical motifs or recurring elements that represent characters or themes? Yes, certain melodies, chords, or instruments represent Dario, his fears, or key moments. Those recurring elements keep the EP connected and give it a cinematic feel. How do the lyrics interact with the music to enhance the narrative? The music sets the mood dark, tense, eerie and the lyrics guide you through Dario’s thoughts and feelings. Together, they tell the full story. The lyric video for “Haunted View” is visually haunting. How important is visual storytelling for hideclose? Absolutely. Music sets the tone, but visuals deepen the experience. For Haunted View, the goal was to match the dark, eerie atmosphere and let people feel the story visually as well as musically. Do you plan to release more videos or visual interpretations for the other tracks? Yes, definitely. Each track has its own mood, and visuals help bring the story to life, making the EP even more immersive. I think the next one will be the lyric video of Sacred Play. Your work often explores spiritual decay, obsession, and transformation. Are these personal fascinations, literary influences, or both? Both. I’m fascinated by these themes personally, they’re part of human nature. But I’m also inspired by Gothic and psychological literature, which dive into obsession, fear, and transformation in dramatic ways. Gothic literature clearly informs Nocte Mutamur. Which authors or works influenced you the most? Poe and Stoker were huge for setting mood and tension. Classic Gothic novels inspired the sense of isolation and fear, and Dante’s Divine Comedy influenced some of the darker, introspective moments. How do you balance darkness and beauty in your compositions? Darkness and beauty go hand in hand. Heavy riffs and eerie melodies create tension, but moments of melody or emotion provide release. That contrast makes Dario’s journey feel real both terrifying and amazing. Do you plan to continue hideclose as a narrative-driven project in future releases? I’m not entirely sure yet. After the trilogy of EPs, I might write a new story for a full album, or I might take hideclose in a completely different direction. I want to leave it open and see where the music and the journey take me. How do you hope listeners will experience Nocte Mutamur, as music, story, or both?
