Interview with Arne Vandenhoeck and Dennis Lefebvre from the belgian band Marche Funèbre

Some bands make heaviness a matter of volume. Marche Funèbre make it a matter of atmosphere. Over the years, the Belgian band have built a distinctive identity shaped by doom metal, melancholy and deeply emotional songwriting, where darkness is never merely a backdrop, but an essential part of the narrative. Now, Arne Vandenhoeck and Dennis Lefebvre are preparing to return to Lisbon with Marche Funèbre, around a decade after their previous appearance at Under the Doom. The band will take the stage at the festival, this time with a new LP in their repertoire and another opportunity to deepen their long-standing relationship with the Portuguese audience.

Ahead of their return to the Under the Doom stage, we spoke with Arne Vandenhoeck and Dennis Lefebvre about the new chapter in Marche Funèbre’s journey, the band’s evolution, their creative process and what it means to return to a festival where their music has already left its mark.
